Panasonic has a large and spacious booth at Photokina, and we were there to show you what’s on display. The new Panasonic GH2 is of course the centre of attention, along with the three new lenses announced yesterday. The 14mm f/2.5 pancake is an extremely tiny affair that makes Panasonic’s other pancake lens - the 20mm f/1.7 - look bulky in comparison. By contrast, the 100-300mm telezoom is a rather hefty piece of glass - at least for a Micro Four Thirds lens. One does have to remember though that this is a lens that covers a focal range similar to that of an imaginary 200-600mm lens in 35mm format - with that in mind, it does not look all that big, actually. The third new lens - the Lumix G 12.5mm f/12 - is the first 3D offering for the Micro Four Thirds mount. This is a tiny and very exotic-looking lens that allows the Panasonic GH2 to take 3D images that can be played back on 3D television sets and viewed with the help of special glasses.
