PrinterInfo have reviewed the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 A3+ photo printer.

“The R2400 certainly shined in our photo print quality tests. It scored much higher than any printer yet tested for color accuracy and color gamut. While the density of the blackest blacks was not as high as we’d like to see for a printer with such exceptional black-and-white printing capabilities, the R2400 produced very nice quality black-and-white prints, with a wide tonal range and good contrast.”

The Olympus 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 lens provides a focal length of 140-600mm in 35mm camera terms (due to the E-System’s 2x crop factor), yet it only weighs 620g. The new Olympus 70-300mm also doubles up as a macro lens, offering a maximum magnification of 0.5x (equivalent to 1x). The Olympus 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 will be available from late October 2007, price to be announced.

PCMag have just reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S50c camera, which offers offer 7.2 megapixels, a 3x zoom lens (38-114mm), Vibration Reduction, Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and D-Lighting, plus a 3 inch wide-angle LCD monitor and Wi-Fi connectivity.

“Nikon continues taking the lead in wireless digital cameras, but these cameras are still a bit tricky to use. A number of things keep the Nikon Coolpix S50c from receiving top honors. First, I found significant shutter lag, mainly due to the delayed flash effect in its auto setting, and there are other annoying performance issues. Second, the Coolpix’s fancy wireless features still proved to be way too confusing to use, at least at first.”

TrustedReviews have reviewed the new Pentax T30 compact digital camera, which features 7.1 megapixels, a 3 inch touch-screen LCD display, Face Recognition Auto Focus and Auto Exposure, plus a high ISO Digital Shake Reduction mode.

“Picture quality also seems to be significantly improved over the rather disappointing performance of the T20, although it is still not entirely problem-free. The T30 has a maximum ISO setting of 3200, and produces good results at settings up to 400 ISO, and printable results as high as 1600, which is a pretty creditable performance by any standard. Overall picture quality is about average for this class of camera, with the lens producing good detail and contrast with relatively little wide-angle barrel distortion.”

PopPhoto have reviewed the new Canon EOS-1D Mark III DSLR camera.

“Our test images showed normal contrast with excellent color in both RAW and JPEG at the neutral setting, which zeroes out Sharpness, Contrast, Saturation, and Color Tone, with very good shadow and highlight details even at higher ISOs. At ISO 100, the Mark III was able to hold detail over an 11 EV dynamic range, and more than nine EVs at ISO 1600—quite impressive. Test images showed excellent color fidelity with very little color shift or casting in auto white balance.”

CNET have taken a look at the distinctive Samsung NV7 digital camera.

“What about ISO sensitivity settings? Well, on one hand, the NV7 maxes out at ISO 1000, which is pretty low from a spec comparison standpoint. However, the NV7’s photos have so much noise—unless scaled down, anything above ISO 200 looks more Impressionist than Realist—the availability of any higher settings becomes a moot issue. In addition, the NV7 has some of the poorest white balance I’ve seen in a while”

“Since it’s so small (and, frankly, attractive), it’s no trouble to leave it plugged in and mounted in its stand to watch as the light changes during the day. If it’s doing it’s job, you shouldn’t notice. And we didn’t. As we worked through the morning and the afternoon and late into the evening past the wee hours of the morning never taking a break except to reach for a dictionary or other professional aid, our monitor display remained constant.”

The Royal Photographic Society launched its 150th Annual International Print Exhibition to a packed house at Hoopers Gallery in Clerkenwell, London on Tuesday evening. A final selection of 125 prints was chosen from a record 2,200 images submitted by 600 photographers worldwide. DigiCamReview have just reviewed the new Panasonic DMC-FZ8 ultra-zoom compact digital camera.

“The camera has very good image quality - the camera has good detail and very good colour (accurate, and well saturated) and there was no noticable corner softness in the images. Images have good saturation and contrast, with fairly low noise at the lower ISO settings. The higher ISO settings of ISO400 and above are probably best avoided as detail is lacking from images. Indoors photos were good with little or no red-eye, although noise was noticeable in some shots. Purple fringing was noticed in very few shots, and wasn’t a problem in the majority of shots”

Megapixel.net have reviewed the GE G1 digital camera, which features 3x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD screen and 7 megapixels.

“While the G1 will satisfy the needs of many point and shoot users, it does face some stiff competition from companies whose name is more readily associated with photography than GE. The G1 is a debut camera, and its descendants may well develop into more impressive and feature-rich cameras over time. But at this time, however, the list prices currently indicated by some retailers may make it a tough sell amongst well-informed camera buyers.”

DigitalCameraInfo have reviewed the Nikon Coolpix P5000 camera, which offers 10 megapixels, 3.5x zoom lens (36-126mm), Vibration Reduction to combat camera shake, ISO 3200 capability and a 2.5 inch LCD screen.

“DSLR owners don’t care for picture effects and face recognition as much as they do for a good burst mode and a solid auto focus system – the P5000 has neither of these. The burst mode stutters and the auto focus adds lag time to an already slow camera. The P5000’s constant humming noise coupled with slow processing when viewing pictures makes it seem that the camera is working really hard.”
