GoPro have released Firmware v2.0 for the Fusion camera which adds 5.6K video recording at 24fps. The Beta firmware also introduces a 5.6K/24fps time lapse mode and longer night/time lapse photo intervals.

Nikon have announced a new super-zoom camera, the Coolpix A1000. The Nikon A1000 boasts a 35x optical zoom (24–840mm), a new built-in electronic viewfinder, a tilting touchscreen monitor, 4K movies and RAW image recording.

It will be available from 31st January 2019 in the UK priced at £409 and in March in the US at $479.95.

Nikon have announced a new super-zoom camera, the Coolpix B600. The Nikon B600 offers a 60x optical zoom (24–1440mm), a 3 inch, 921k-dot monitor, Full HD video and a sturdy grip. It will be available from February 2019 in the UK priced at £329 and in March in the US at $329.95.

The Fujifilm GF 100-200mm F5.6 R LM OIS WR is a new telephoto zoom Lens for the GFX medium format camera system. The lens is the first telephoto zoom lens of its kind that has a 35mm equivalent focal range of 79-158mm. Thanks to its optical image stabiliser and weather resistant construction, the GF100-200mm is ideal for photographers shooting landscape and nature photography.

The GF 100-200mm F5.6 R LM OIS WR will be available from 14th February 2019 for $1999.

Olympus have registered a new camera at the United States Federal Communications Commission, which some sites are claiming will be called the Olympus E-M1X.

Olympus USA have released a short teaser video for the Olympus OM-D EM1X, which now has a scheduled launch date of January 24th 2019.

The 18 second video shows the EM1X being used at several sporting events, including at a swimming pool and a beach, suggesting that this new camera will be rugged enough and fast enough for professional level sports photography.

Olympus have posted another 19-second teaser video on YouTube, which shows a few more glimpses of the upcoming OM-D EM1X being used at a motorsports event, plus a shadowy silhouette of the rear of the camera.

On January 16th, Olympus released a third teaser video, this time showing the E-M1X being used in the great outdoors, strongly hinting at a high level of weatherproofness.

Measuring 144.37 x 146.765 x 75.345mm, the Olympus E-M1X will be a sports camera with a built-in battery grip, at least according to 43rumors.com, and will be released in January 2019.

Leaked images showing the Olympus OM-D E-M1X have now emerged from rumor site 43rumors, showing what seems to be a legitimate pre-production version of the camera. As you can see, its pretty big for Mirco Four Thirds camera, especially with the vertical battery grip attached!

Rumored specs include a new 20 megapixel sensor, a 50 megapixel handheld high-resolution shooting mode, swivelling LCD screen, AF joystick (first time on an Olympus camera), 18fps burst shooting, and an incredible 7.5 stops of image stabilisation.

The new Olympus OM-D E-M1X should make a more official appearance in January 2019, with actual release slated for the 24th January.

The Sony Alpha A9 camera will receive several major enhancements to its autofocus (AF) performance and image quality, as well as a variety of new features that are designed to improve the overall workflow for professional photographers.

In addition, new software updates for the Alpha A7R III and A7 III will be available, adding the latest ‘Real-time Eye AF’ enhancements and interval recording capabilities.

Sony has announced the release of a new ‘Imaging Edge’ mobile application plus several updates to the ‘Remote’, ‘Viewer’ and ‘Edit’ desktop applications, that will bring new features to all Sony imaging customers ranging from casual hobbyists to working professionals.

The Sony Alpha A6400 will ship in Europe in February 2019 priced at approximately £950 / $900 / €1050. It will also be offered as a kit with the SELP1650 lens priced at approximately £1,000 or in a kit with the SEL18135 lens priced at approximately £1,300.

Sony have also announced the new Imaging Edge mobile app for the Alpha system, and upcoming new firmware updates for the Alpha A9 (Version 5.0, March 2019), A7R III and A7 III (Version 3.0, April 2019) and the Alpha A9 again (Version 6.0, Summer 2019).

The Canon VIXIA HF G50 is the first Vixia G-series camcorder to feature 4K recording. Featuring a genuine wide-angle Canon 20x (29.3-601mm) optical zoom lens, the VIXIA HF G50 provides a well-rounded feature set at an affordable price point.

The Canon VIXIA HF G50 4K UHD video camcorder is scheduled to be available in April 2019 for an estimated retail price of $1099.

Canon have added two new ruggedly designed additions to the VIXIA family of digital camcorders – the VIXIA HF W11 and HF W10. Both models are waterproof (up to 16.4 ft. / 5m), shockproof and dustproof and are capable of functioning in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit /-10 degrees Celsius.

The VIXIA HF W11 and VIXIA HF W10 camcorders are both scheduled to be available in April 2019 for an estimated retail price of $449.99 and $399.99 respectively

The MOZA Mini-S is a new 3-axis smartphone gimbal designed to be flexible, compact, user-friendly and packed with features. The Mini-S has a foldable design that can alos be extended into fully stabilized selfie stick. The price and availability of the MOZA Mini-Shave yet to be announced.

The official price of the new SIGMA 28mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens is £1,099.99 including VAT. Sigma, Canon EF and Nikon F mounts will be available later this month. The ETA of the Sony E-mount version is currently TBA.

Xiamoi have just announced the Redmi Note 7, an affordable new smartphone that uses the Sony IMX586 1/2-inch 48-megapixel image sensor.

Initially available only in China, the Redmi Note 7 can take a 48 megapixel image with its 0.8-micron pixels, or combine 4 neighboring pixels into a 1.6-micron pixel to capture a 12 megapixel image with better noise performance and HDR processing.

Despite its budget price-tag, the Redmi Note 7 still offers a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 processor, 4000mAh battery with quick charge support, 6.3" 2340 x 1080 pixel screen, USB-C and 3.5mm headphone jacks, and a stylish glass body.

There are three versions of the Redmi 7 - 3/32 GB, 4/64 GB, and 6/64 GB (RAM/Storage) - with the cheapest costing around $150 and the most expensive around $210. It also supports up to 256GB of expandable storage via MicroSD cards.

The Redmi Note 7 goes on sale in China on January 15th 2019.

Samsung are set to unveil the Galaxy 10 flagship smartphone on February 20th 2019. Samsung are skipping Mobile World Congress 2019 to launch their new devices a week before the show. Rumours suggest that not one, but three Galaxy 10 models will be announced at the UNPACKED event.
