Fujifilm X Raw Studio is a brand new RAW conversion system. Fujifilm X Raw Studio enables users to quickly and easily convert RAW files with outstanding image quality. Exceptional image quality is retained, as the X Raw Studio system utilizes the X Processor Pro in the camera instead of the CPU in the computer. This new software is due to be available from late November 2017.

Free upgrades for the Fujifilm X-Pro2, X-T2, X100F and X-T20 cameras will soon be released in November and December 2017.  These updates will provide support for “FUJIFILM X RAW STUDIO”, improve studio flash controller usability compatibility, introduce a new AF tracking algorithm and include other functional and operational updates

The firmware updates are due as follows:

Late November : X-T2, X-T20

Late December : X-Pro2, X100F

Fujifilm has added the GF 250mm F4 R LM OIS WR lens and GF 1.4X TC WR teleconverter to the G Mount lens roadmap. The GF 250mm F4 R LM OIS WR is a telephoto prime lens with a focal length equivalent to 198mm. The GF 1.4X TC WR is a high-performance teleconverter capable of multiplying the focal length by 1.4x.

Fujifilm has added the XF 8-16mm F2.8 R LM WR and XF 200mmF2 R LM OIS WR lenses to the latest X Mount lens roadmap. In addition, the release date of the “MK Series for X Mount version” will now be 2018 rather than 2017, as previously communicated.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III is a new compact system camera featuring a 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor, 121-point contrast-detect AF system, 4K video recording, a 2.36M-dot OLED EVF and a Micro Four Thirds lens mount. The camera also boasts the latest TruePic Vlll image processor, lifted straight from the flagship OM-D E-M1 Mark II, and Olympus’ class-leading 5-axis Image Stabilisation system. The revised, intuitive mode dial provides easy access to four camera assist shooting modes, while built-in WiFi enables instant sharing and remote control shooting. The camera is capable of achieving sequential shooting speeds of up to 8.6fps with S-AF when using the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 EZ lens. The body-only configuration will be available from mid-September for £629.99/$649.99. Panasonic today announced a major firmware update for their GH5 compact system camera. The new firmware enables GH5 tethered shooting via USB, using the “LUMIX Tether” PC software. Users can control the camera by connecting it to a PC via a USB. It lets you view the image on a large PC screen while shooting, which is helpful in commercial photoshoots of portraits, products, etc where continuous confirmation is required. The firmware also improves AF performance, faster shooting in 4K Photo and 6K Photo modes, an additional ALL-Intra-I Video Recording mode, 4K HDR video recording, various enhancements to the Anamorphic video recording mode and the in-body image stabiliser, and much more. The firmware upgrade will be available from the end of next month.

Canon Japan have released 7 high-resolution sample images captured with their new EOS M100 compact system camera. Taken with a variety of lenses including the Canon EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM, EF-M18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM, EF-M28mm f/3.5 MACRO IS STM, EF-M11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and EF-M55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM; these Canon EOS M100 samples were shot at sensitivity settings ranging from ISO 100/21° to ISO 400/27°.

In the US, the Canon EOS M100 is scheduled to be available in black or white in October 2017 for an estimated retail price of $599.99 with the EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens and $949.99 with the EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens and the EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens.

Russia's Krasnogorsk Mechanical Works (KMZ) have announced their intention to revive the legendary Zenit brand by launching a full-frame compact system camera in 2018. These plans were revealed by Igor Sergeyev, the company's Deputy Director General for Civilian Production and Consumer Goods, in an interview on Radio 1. Apparently, the Russian company will manufacture the optical components of the system (and possibly the camera body), whereas the electronic parts will be sourced from abroad. Sergeyev talked about "a close cooperation project with one of the leading photographic equipment companies," without actually naming their business partner. The new camera will be a "modernised" incarnation of the Zenit brand, but will allegedly retain "the characteristic contours, ergonomics [and] camera lines" of the old Zenit SLRs. The device will be released in two colourways; "dark" (presumably black) and "light" (presumably silver). Sergeyev did not reveal the camera's technical specifications - apart from stating that it will be a full-frame mirrorless model - or the exact MSRP, but indicated that it will be "more expensive than a good smartphone."

Hasselblad have posted a firmware update for their X1D-50c medium-format compact system camera. Version 1.17.0 adds a visual overexposure warning, an overlay for the spot metering area, a grid overlay and a clickable White Balance icon in Video Live View and recording; and fixes bugs. Sony have released a variety of immersive 4K footage recorded by the Sony A7S II 35mm full-frame compact system camera on board the International Space Station (ISS). according to the company, this is the world's first commercial camera to be mounted outside of the ISS used to capture video in 4K. The videos showcase the Japanese islands from outer space with footage taken during day and night, showing off its majestic snow-covered peaks and metropolitan lights right down to the differences in colour tone. It also captured the well-lit cities of the US east coast by night.

Leica have issued a firmware update for the Leica TL2 compact system camera. Version 1.1 fixes the following defect: "When using the Leica TL2 with an external electronic viewfinder (Visoflex) a defect may occur that could stop the camera from working." The Olympus PEN E-PL8 has just won a Red Dot Design Award with its combination of form and function. Awarding the title Red Dot Award Winner 2017, the international Red Dot jury of 40 design experts stated that “the compact and lightweight PEN E-PL8 is a prime example of retro design, high grade materials and state-of-the-art technology all in one.” To further compliment the camera, Olympus commissioned high profile Berlin fashion designer Malaika Raiss to create some beautiful accessories including specially designed straps and bags. “Women are amongst the most prolific and creative visual online content creators,” says Tanja Mehler, European Marketing Manager for Olympus PEN. “They can for example appreciate the E-PL8 camera as a way to expand their creative power if they are moving up from a phone because along with its quality, it is easy to use. Or they can appreciate how small and easy-to-carry it is compared to a conventional DSLR. What was missing were good looking accessories to go with it.”
