The new GH5M2 replaces the 4-year-old GH5 as Panasonic's flagship all-round Micro Four Thirds sensor mirrorless camera for 2021 - at least until the GH6 is launched later this year. So what exactly has changed in the 4 years since the launch of the GH5, and is the older model still worth considering? We take a closer look in our detailed head-to-head comparison of the Panasonic GH5M2 versus the GH5.

Panasonic have just unveiled the GH5M2, a new Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera that builds on the success of the very popular GH5 model.

The GH5II offers internal recording up to 4K 60p and 4:2:2 10-bit 30p or 4K/6K Anamorphic modes,and V-Log L is pre-installed in the camera.

The GH5 Mark II's main new feature addition is wireless live streaming in 1080/60p using the Lumix Sync app or by connecting directly to a Wi-Fi router, and wired streaming via a PC using the Lumix Webcam software.

It also uses a new image sensor that features an AR (Anti-Reflective) coating, the latest high-speed and high-performance Venus Engine processor, and offers improved in-body stabilisation which provides up to 6.5 stops of compensation.

The Panasonic GH5M2 will be available from the end of June 2021 priced at £1,499 for body only, £1,699 for the GH5M2 M Kit (with the 12-60mm Lumix lens), and £1,999 for the GH5M2 L Kit (with the Leica 12-60mm lens).

Sony have today announced a new firmware update for the Alpha 7S III camera which adds S-Cinetone and Active Mode.

First announced in the USA over 5 months ago, the Canon EOS M50 Mark II APS-C mirrorless camera has now been launched in the UK, Europe and Australia.

Don't get too excited though - it seems to be exactly the same camera in terms of hardware as the original EOS M50 that we reviewed in 2018, just with different firmware that improves the autofocusing, enables the capture of vertical video, adds some new touchscreen controls, and allows wireless live streaming to YouTube.

We're not quite sure why Canon couldn't have added these new software features to the original M50 via a firmware update - but if you're still interested, the Canon EOS M50 Mark II will be available from the end of March 2021 priced at £589.99 / €659.99 body only.
