Schilt Publishing has announced the upcoming exhibition and book launch of Michelle Sank?s photographic series The Submerged at Hotshoe Gallery, London. The Submerged was produced within Mid-Wales in the hilly and coastal areas around Aberystwyth, and portrays “a grittiness evident in the geological and architectural fabric of the place”, the publisher says. The exhibition opens tomorrow and runs until the 29th at Hotshoe Gallery, 29 – 31 Saffron Hill, London, EC1N 8SW. The book, distributed by Thames & Hudson, retails for £29.95, with a limited edition - including a print - available for £200.

In commemoration of the ten-year anniversary of the September 11th attacks, The Morrison Hotel Gallery will present a special exhibition of large-scale, never-before-seen photographs from prolific photographer and former NYPD detective John Botte. Opening on 4th September at the Calumet Gallery on 22 West 22nd Street in Manhattan, the exhibition features intimate and powerful portraits captured in the days following the attacks. On show until the 24th, The 9|11 Photographs exhibition is curated by renowned photographer Timothy White and sponsored by Canson, Calumet and Loupe Digital.

The Master Photographers Association (MPA) has announced that tickets for its forthcoming Master Photography Awards 2011 are now on sale. The Awards ceremony is to be held at the Gateshead Hilton in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Sunday, 9th October. Tickets for the event cost £65 and include dinner, wine, entertainment and the “chance to experience first hand the cream of the world’s best photography”, the Association says. To commemorate its sixtieth anniversary, Tamron has announced the project “Eternity at a Moment - The Vision of 60 Photographers.” In this project, 60 photographers used Tamron’s 18-270mm Di II VC PZD lens to capture how they perceive “Eternity at a Moment.” Their creations will be displayed on Tamron’s special website and at a photographic exhibition. The official website launched today and is currently featuring the works of sixteen photographers. Further works will be posted to the site on 12th and 20th September. The offline exhibition will open its gates on 5th October in Tokyo, Japan.

The Unseen Eye: Photographs from the W.M. Hunt Collection is a new exhibition at the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. More than 500 photographs by the masters of the medium will be on view Oct. 1, 2011 through Feb. 19, 2012. W.M. David Noton will be giving two talks at the Royal Geographical Society in London on Sunday 2nd October. Held as part of the Travel Photographer of the Year Festival of Photography and World Travel, David’s talks will cover in the right place at the right time for travel photography, and the high and lows of a roving photographic life. Ricoh has just announced that the upcoming exhibition, PDN’s 30 2011: PDN’s choice of 30 photographers to watch, will be hosted by its Ring Cube Photo Gallery in Tokyo. PDN’s 30 is an annual special issue published by PDN (Photo District News), an American photographic magazine. Each year more than 300 photographers nominated by photo industry professionals submit portfolios of their work, which are then evaluated over the course of several weeks by the creative director and editors of PDN. This “PDN’s 30 2011” exhibition is the first opportunity to see the PDN’s 30 exhibited outside the US.

Bob Books is launching its first UK-wide celebration of photobooks in September. Taking the form of a touring workshop that will call at 10 cities across the country, Photobook Month is aimed at photographers and photobook lovers looking to improve their photobook projects or get some inspiration from photographers and photobook experts. Bob Books’ general manager Ibolya Németh said: “We wanted to celebrate photobooks in their many forms and the best way to do this is to invite photographers and photobook lovers to join us for a month-long celebration of photobooks in September.” Tickets are £10 in London and £5 everywhere else and limited to 15 tickets per city. The independently curated MA Photographic Studies 2011 Exhibition, organised by the University of Westminster, showcases the work of 13 graduates from the University’s MA photography course. Taking place in the Ambika P3 gallery in the heart of the West End, addresses a diversity of themes, from the personal and public to the photographic. Exhibiting photographers include Matthew Fagg, Paula Gortázar, Tam Hare, David Kilian Beck, Deirdre King, Davide Maione, Javier Marquerie Thomas, Bethan Mills, Tom Need, Mari Rustan, Alexandra Serrano, Gosia Sobieszek and Clement Verger. The exhibition opens to the public on 8th September and runs until the 12th.

This is going to be a 3-day event featuring an impressive line-up of speakers from the worlds of photography, film and TV, travel and exploration. Brighton-based photographer and teacher Jerry Lebens has announced two new photography courses for September 2011. The first one, Beyond Auto: Getting more from your DSLR camera (£80), is targeted at beginners and comprises four evening classes held on 5, 12, 19 and 26 September. The second one is a one-day studio lighting workshop entitled, Let there be light (£150), taking place on Sunday. 25 September. Magnum Photos and youth arts charity IdeasTap have announced the second of five UK events which will provide photographers with practical industry information and access to key professionals. Magnum Professional Practice: London, taking place on 10-11th September, is aimed a wide range of photographers at different stages of their career: professional photographers working in a particular discourse but wanting to explore other avenues; emerging photographers who require practical, vocational training; or semi-professional photographers wishing to make the commitment to full time practice. The list of confirmed speakers includes Chris Barwick, Jessica Crombie, Lucy Davis, Peter Marlow, Steve Macleod, Fiona Rogers, Hannah Watson and John Wyatt-Clarke. The event will be held at IdeasTap Head Office in Bermondsey, London, with tickets available at £250+VAT including lunch and refreshments.

Adobe has launched the Photoshop & You experience at 550 Sutter Street in San Francisco.. Open to the public through 6th August, Photoshop & You is a place for visitors to explore the world of digital imaging with leading photographers, renowned teachers, industry influencers and the Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop Elements teams. After a quick photo shoot, guests can visit the Extreme Imaging Lab hosted by popular Photoshop Evangelist Russell Brown, which also features a printing station for guests to have their favourite critter letterform, created by distinguished illustrator Craig Frazier, printed on Y-shirts. Visitors can also reserve individual sessions with Photoshop experts to learn how to make photos look their best. All presentations, classes and other activities are free to the public.

As part of the Phase One Digital Artist Series (PODAS), Phase One has announced a fashion and portrait photography workshop.
