Ferrania have just announced the resurrection of their classic black-and-white film stock, Ferrania P30. Expected to be available shortly, in a limited 'Alpha' edition, Ferrania P30 is an ISO 80/20° panchromatic film which was originally manufactured for motion pictures in the 1960s. "With its cinema pedigree, ultrafine grain, and very high silver content, Ferrania P30 ALPHA has no peers in the modern analogue film market," the company says. The film will be available in 35mm format later this month. Pricing to be confirmed.

The Lomographic Society has announced the Lomo'Instant Murano instant film camera. This funky little instant film camera features a built-in wide-angle lens plus fisheye and portrait lens attachments, and works with the widely available Fujifilm Instax Mini film. The latest addition to the Lomo’Instant family is inspired by romantic gondola rides past colourful houses on the Venetian islands of Murano. Canon is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the launch of its Electro Optical System (EOS), which includes EOS-series interchangeable-lens cameras and a diverse range of system accessories. The system debuted in March 1987 with the launch of the EOS 650 SLR camera (pictured) and EF lenses, making EOS cameras the World’s first to incorporate an electronic mount system, representing a new generation of auto focus SLR cameras. Currently, the EOS system, including the Cinema EOS system, comprises 24 models with a selection of 97 EF lenses.

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of WestLicht, Leica will hold its 30th WestLicht camera auction, opening at 11 a.m. on 19 November 2016. Among the highlights of the anniversary auction are two versions of the RIFLE sets, manufactured by E. Leitz New York, which were first publicly presented in July 1938. The RITOO set, with a 20 cm Telyt lens and the original case, is expected to value $165,000 and $200,000. Bids for the second version, a RITEL with a 40 cm Telyt lens and also in its original case, are expected to be in the range of $190,000 to $225,000. Magnum photographer Herbert List’s black paint Leica M3 (No. 915252, pictured) from 1958 is also up for auction (estimated hammer price: $45,000 to $55,000). This early black paint version of the camera from an unofficial series is one of the rarest Leica items. Around 90 units were built, and very few of them have survived. In addition to Leica products, visitors to the anniversary auction will also have an opportunity to bid for numerous collectors’ pieces and rarities from other camera manufacturers.

Fujifilm have launched the instax mini film Monochrome, which will be released worldwide in October 2016. The film works in all instax mini cameras and offers stunning instant prints that can fit into a wallet, purse or mini photo frame. Like the standard colour instax mini film, the new monochrome version ensures sharp and clear images. The Lomographic Society has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the commercialisation of the Lomo'Instant Automat instant film camera. The Lomo'Instant Automat features a 35mm (eq.) lens with a 43mm filter thread, a simple 3-step zone-focusing system, a built-in flash with a guide number of 9 (in metres), an LED frame counter, unlimited multiple exposures, automatic shutter speed and aperture settings, and an exposure area of 62mm x 46mm. The Lomo’Instant Automat will retail at prices starting from $/€149, but Lomography is offering Kickstarter backers up to 35% off the camera and all sorts of exclusive extra goodies including a suite of add-on conversion lenses.

The winners of the Red Bull Illume sports photography competition will be revealed to the world at the Red Bull Illume 2016 Winner Award Ceremony in Chicago on 28th September. The event will be held at The Art Institute of Chicago, followed by a short stroll to Millennium Park where the images will be unveiled for the very first stop of the Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour. The Top 55 images will all be displayed on life-sized 2x2m light boxes – showcasing the work in the glory it deserves. The exhibition will stay in Chicago until 9 October 2016 before the Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour moves on to its next stop.

‘Impossible Instant Nights’ is a monthly event dedicated to all things instant photography, hosted at London gallery and members club Lights of Soho (35 Brewer Street, W1F 0RX). “These evenings provide an open inclusive forum for anyone with an interest in instant photography to share ideas and inspiration, while learning from experts in the field,” said Oskar Smolokowski, Impossible’s CEO. “We’re planning talks and workshops covering all aspects of the art form, based on a series of ever-changing themes.” The first event in the series takes place on Thursday, July 21st, with a talk by photographer Ray Liu. Ray will talk about how he created a series of stunning light trail shots when he took his Impossible I-1 instant film camera to the streets of London at night. The Kodak Professional Film App is now available for both Android and iOS devices. With Kodak Professional  film roll sales growing more than 5% worldwide from 2013-2015, this free app was created to answer the often-asked questions – such as what types of film are suitable for certain environments, where to buy film, and where to develop film, to name a few.  In each section, users will be able to find examples of each type of photography, along with what others have done with Kodak Professional film. For Android users, the app is now available in the Google Play Store. For iOS devices, download the new version for iPad and the updated iPhone version from iTunes.

Harman Technology, owner of the Ilford brand, is opening a new ordering window for Ultra Large Format (ULF) photographers. “This programme enables us to further support the world of film photography that uses and values our conventional products” said Giles Branthwaite, Director of Sales and Marketing at Harman technology. “Through running the ULF programme each year, we are able to satisfy the strong demand for specialist film formats. Whilst manufacture is not easy, we have been rewarded by increased demand year on year ensuring we will continue to address and care for this market.” Films available for this year are Ilford FP4 PLUS, HP5 PLUS, and Delta 100 Professional. Orders must be placed no later than Friday 27th May.

At CES 2016, Kodak announced the launch of an initiative aimed at putting Super 8 cameras into the hands of a new generation of filmmakers. Showing off an early prototype of a new Kodak Super 8 camera that combines the classic features of a Super 8 with digital functionality, the company is providing an opportunity for visitors to shoot their own Super 8 footage and watch home movies on the Kodak CES booth (South Hall #20618). Kodak has engaged with Yves Béhar, design entrepreneur and founder of Fuseproject, to ensure that the new Kodak Super 8 camera design echoes the look and feel of the original Kodak Super 8 camera, while offering modern functionality such as a swivelling 3.5" colour display. However, the Kodak Super 8 Revival Initiative reaches far beyond the introduction of a new camera. The company has built a roadmap that includes a range of cameras, film development services, post production tools and more. “It is an ecosystem for film” said Jeff Clarke, Eastman Kodak Chief Executive Officer. “Following the 50th anniversary of Super 8, Kodak is providing new opportunities to enjoy and appreciate film as a medium.”

The Lomo’Instant Wide is now available for regular purchase around the world. Featuring a moderate wide-angle 90mm lens, the Lomo’Instant Wide uses Fujifilm Instax Wide film, which has an exposure area of 64mm x 99mm. The lens cap of the Lomo’Instant Wide doubles as a remote control that allows easy and convenient self-portraits, group photos and long exposures. The camera has three different shooting modes including Auto, Bulb and a Fixed Shutter Speed mode for studio settings. The Lomo'Instant Wide comes with a built-in flash as well as a standard Prontor-Compur sync terminal, allowing users to attach an external flash unit to the camera.

The Lomographic Society has launched two limited-edition Diana film cameras. The Diana F+ Cortina is a medium format camera, whilst the Diana Mini Monte Rosa is a 35mm snapper that can shoot both 24x24mm square-format and 18x24mm half-frame images on standard 35mm film. Both new models have been inspired by beautiful snowy landscapes and "the adrenaline rush of winter sports," the company says. The Diana F+ Corinta sells for £89, while the Diana Mini Monte Rosa will set you back £99. Both models are available from the Lomography Online Shop.
