PNY have collaborated with PCWorld in the UK to release the PNY Attache USB 2.0 flash drive featuring a rotating cap. It seems that Wi-Fi memory cards are on the way, as wireless technology company Eye-Fi secures $5.5 million in Series A funding. “Digital cameras have made it very easy to take pictures, but it’s a chore to get photos off the camera to a place where you can print or share them,” commented Robert Coneybeer, managing director for Shasta Ventures “This is a very real problem affecting both consumers who own digital cameras, and companies in the digital photography industry looking to boost profits. We see a huge market opportunity for Eye-Fi because anyone with a Wi-Fi network and a digital camera is a potential customer.”

Pretec has announced 233X speed USB flash drives and CompactFlash cards at the Computex Taipei 2007 show. The new cards provide access speeds of more than 35MB/s. The capacities of the Pretec 233X CF card range from 256MB to a massive 28GB, and an even faster version is promised which will reach 400X (60MB/s).

“The 580EX II recycles approximately 20% faster than the 580EX. What is more noticeable to me is the lack of sound during the recharging phase. I’ve grown accustomed to listening to the whine of the charging flashes - I can audibly tell when they are at full power and know when the batteries are nearing the end of their charge. I definitely like the new, very-professional quiet charging, but I need to relearn my flash-ready indicators.”
