Tamron USA announced that its new Mobile Learning Center Tour will commence on 14th April in Fairfield, NJ. The new fully-equipped and customised Tamron vehicle will travel around the USA through December 2016, making over 70 official stops at authorised Tamron retailers. The Tamron vehicle will pull into the parking lot and set up for a full day of education to help people with their photography questions, see the latest in Tamron products, and provide valuable tips and tricks on subjects attendees frequently photograph. Each day will feature team members leading free seminars under the Tamron Mobile Learning Tent - "Travel & Nature Techniques," "The Art of Macro," and "Light Like a Pro." Attendees are encouraged to bring their cameras so that after each seminar, they can try out Tamron lenses on subjects such as birds of prey or other animals brought to the event by local conservationists and sanctuaries.

Tamron USA have released a firmware update service for owners of select Tamron lenses who wish to use their lenses on the Canon EOS 5DS or 5DSR cameras. "We have learned that the AF functions of the following interchangeable lenses for Canon do not function in Live View mode when used on the EOS 5Ds and EOS 5DsR which went on sale in June 2015," the company says. "Firmware update service is already available as this is the same case when EOS Rebel T6s and the EOS Rebel T6i were released." Those who require the firmware update service are advised to consult Tamron's service department.
Tamron USA has introduced its #WithMyTamron social media initiative, offered to all Tamron USA lens users. Participants simply capture photos with their favourite Tamron lenses, tag them with #WithMyTamron, and upload them to their public Twitter and Instagram accounts. Tamron staff will select the best images to appear on the Tamron USA website, and users will be able to search for and share photos with the #WithMyTamron hashtag on social media.

Ever since Tamron released the AF28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 Aspherical, the company has continued to develop innovative high-power zoom lenses, supporting digital SLR cameras, incorporating VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanisms, and implementing the PZD (Piezo Drive) ultrasonic motor. At present, Tamron has a wide lineup of high-power zoom lenses supporting various camera formats. In particular, during 2014, the company has released the 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD MACRO (Model B016) for APS-C sized digital SLR cameras with a world-first*2 18.8x zoom, the 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di VC PZD (Model A010) supporting full-frame digital SLR cameras, and the 14-150mm F/3.5-5.8 Di III (Model C001) for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras.

Headline features include optical vibration compensation, advanced anti-reflection coating, four low-dispersion elements, three molded glass aspherical elements, one hybrid aspherical element, one extra-refractive-index glass element and one element of UXR (Ultra-Extra Refractive Index) glass. Tamron today announced the price and availability of its 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III superzoom lens for the Canon EOS M compact system camera. Originally released for Sony mount in 2011, this 29-320mm equivalent lens employs two (Low Dispersion) elements, three Molded-Glass Aspherical elements, one XR (high refractive index) element, and one Hybrid Aspherical element to reduce aberrations "to a bare minimum" as Tamron put it. The lens also has optical vibration compensation and a stepping motor adopted for the AF drive, a construction that accommodates contrast-detect auto focus and movie shooting. This feature also supports the Direct Manual Focus (DMF) function, which allows the user to make fine manual adjustments after initially focusing by AF. The Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC for Canon will be available in the US starting 26 June 2014 priced at $499.
