The Olympus PEN E-PL9 is a new entry-level compact system camera aimed at smartphone users who are looking to upgrade. The Spirituality in Photography Award 2017 is a competition open to everyone seeking to take photographs with spiritual depth. All entrants will have their photographs displayed on www.spiritualityinphotography.com/ and shared via social media. A panel of judges – including London-based photographers Jay Rowden and Georgie Lord - will select what they believe to be the best entry to win the Spirituality in Photography Award, and a prize of £50 of Darton, Longman and Todd books. Each entrant is asked to submit a photograph which demonstrates spiritual insight or inspiration. The image may be accompanied by a caption of no more than 100 characters, but no further explanation. Photos of children aged less than 16 years old will only be accepted for entry if the consent form is accompanied by a letter of agreement for the child’s image to be published, signed by the child’s legal parent or guardian. The closing date for entries is 31st August and the winner will be announced by 30th September. Entry is limited to three photographs per person.

This October, Triggertrap are calling on photographers from around the world to create time-lapse movies featuring the cities they love. The clips will then be combined to create a powerful crowdsourced time-lapse film. From famous monuments to bustling crowds to office blocks, Triggertrap wants photographers to capture the local views that matter to them, and paint an honest picture of the photographer’s environment. The events will take place in London, Cape Town, New York City, San Francisco, and Milan, kicking off with this year’s LapseLondon event on 11 October 2015. The events will all be free to attend. The finished timelapse films and documentary of the events will be available online in November via Triggertrap’s Vimeo page and website.

Microsoft Devices have launched the Lumia Win Win Project, a campaign aiming to reward the Lumia photographic community. The project encourages Lumia owners to enter 10 top photography competitions including the Pulitzer and IPA (International Photography Awards). Those who win any of these competitions with a photo shot on a Lumia phone will see their competition prize doubled by Microsoft. "If you win, we’ll match your prize money," the company says. "Together, we’ll change the way smartphone photography is perceived, while you get double the love. It really is a win win."As a part of the campaign, Microsoft Devices will be providing weekly photography tips on a dedicated community website called Shot on My Lumia. Lumia owners will be able to upload their shots, the best of which will be given an exemplary badge ranging in categories from ‘Foodie’ to ‘Traveller’.

The Canon PIXMA MG8220 and MG6220 are two new 802.11n Wi-Fi certified all-in-one printers. The PIXMA MG8220 will have an estimated selling price of $299.99, while the PIXMA MG6220 will have an estimated selling price of $199.99.
Canon has announced a new photo inkjet printer and a new all-in-one device. The Canon Pixma iP4920 Photo Inkjet Printer ($99.99) utilises the ChromaLife100 + ink system with five individual ink tanks, and produces a 4”x6” borderless photo in approximately 20 seconds. The Pixma MG5320 Wireless Photo All-In-One device ($149.99, pictured) uses the same ink system and is capable of a similar printing performance, but can additionally be used as a photocopier and a scanner. Both new products feature significant upgrades to Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint EX and Full HD Movie Print software.
Canon today added two wireless All-In-One (AIO) devices with Intelligent Touch System to its Pixma range. The new Intelligent Touch System promises easier and quicker menu navigation thanks to capacitive touch technology which picks up on electricity in the users body when a finger glides across the touch surface. The Canon Pixma MG8120 ($299.99, pictured) offers a built-in Film Adapter Unit and boasts improved photo printing times, while the more affordable ($199.99) MG6120 is almost the same thing sans the film adapter. Both the Pixma MG6120 and the Pixma MG8120 feature the recently upgraded versions of Auto Photo Fix II, Easy-PhotoPrint EX and Easy-WebPrint EX technologies and both are are 802.11n Wi-Fi certified.
Canon U.S.A. has unveiled five new Canon Pixma printers sporting a ‘Full HD Movie Print’ feature that lets users print out individual frames from HD movies as still photographs. In addition to this, these new models - including the Canon Pixma MG5220 ($149.99, pictured) and Pixma MP495 ($79.99) Wireless Photo All-in-One printers, the Pixma MG5120 ($129.99) and Pixma MP280 ($69.99) Photo All-in-One printers and the Pixma iP4820 ($99.99) inkjet printer - will feature improvements to Auto Photo Fix II, while Easy-PhotoPrint EX software now allows users to search and use images from Flickr. Note that “Full HD Movie Print” is available from ‘MOV’ movie files created by certain Canon digital cameras only.
