Color Confidence have announced Anthony Bower, from Stockport as the winner of their exclusive Photography Show prize draw. “The Photography Show prize draw was designed to help digital imaging enthusiasts to manage their colour workflow,” says Geoffrey Clements, Managing Director at Color Confidence. “We were very pleased with the turnout at this year’s show. The Color Confidence team were kept extremely busy, answering questions and providing information on the range of products that we had available.” The prize bundle includes £1,500 worth of products from X-Rite, NEC, DxO, ExpoImaging, Rift Labs, Macphun and Tecco. Color Confidence has also announced the winner of the BenQ ‘Photo of the Show’ competition, which took place at the photo-critique area. The Open and Youth winners along with the inaugural Mobile Phone winner of the Sony World Photography Awards have been announced. The Open Competition winners include Armin Appel, Hector Muñoz Huerta, Antony Crossfield, Nick Ng, Antoine Weis, Norman Quinn, Saleh Rozati, Wilson Lee, Jaime Massieu, and Yasen Georgiev. For photographers aged 19 and under and judged on a single shot, the three Youth category winners are Beatriz Mota da Rocha, Yong Lin Tan and Stephanie Anjo. The Open and Youth category winners will now compete for the overall Open Photographer of the Year and Youth Photographer of the Year titles, which will be revealed at the Sony World photography Awards gala ceremony on 23rd April in London. The Mobile Phone competition was introduced to the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards in recognition of the ability of mobile phone technology to capture everyday moments in our daily lives which would otherwise go unnoticed. The inaugural winner and runners up are Turi Calafato, János M. Scmidt and Ako Salemi.

Leica Fotopark, an online image hosting and sharing service offered by Leica Camera, has announced a spring themed photo challenge. Photographers are encouraged to upload their brightest, liveliest and most idyllic spring pictures to the Leica Fotopark website between 30 March and 12 April 2015 and tag them with #LeicaSpring. Once the submission period is closed, the images will be rated and three winning photos will be chosen and displayed in the Leica Store in Wetzlar. In addition, the overall winner will receive a 90x60cm print of his/her photo mounted on acrylic glass.

The Group of the Party of European Socialists (PES) in the European Parliament's Committee of the Regions (CoR) is launching the 8th edition of its annual photo competition, "Living together." The contest invites photographers to capture in a photo one of the founding values of the European Union, that is, United in Diversity. The Guernsey Photography Festival (GPF) and Raven Russia Ltd have launched a major international photography competition with a prize of £5000 and an opportunity to exhibit at the next Guernsey Photography Festival. The contest is open to all photographers, professionals and amateurs alike, and there is no set theme. “We are delighted to be able to support this competition,” says Glynn Hirsch CEO of Raven Russia. “The Guernsey Photography Festival is now an established event that has national and international recognition. This prize will help raise the island’s profile abroad and will further cement Guernsey’s place as a centre of excellence for business and cultural activities. The ArtGemini Prize has issued the Call for Entries for the Third Edition of the international Art and Photography Prize. Open to all photographers and painters form anywhere in the world, the ArtGemini Prize is described as "a celebration to promote international contemporary art for emerging and established artists." A cash fund of £6000 will be awarded to the winnersin 4 categories, Photography, Painting & Sculpture, Young Artist and Public Choice. In addition to the “open” theme, there is a special bursary prize sponsored by PhotoAid Global for the best “social or environmental documentary” image submitted. Do note that entry fees apply. Byron Dilkes has been named as the winner of the UK National Award, part of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards. His image “Tantalizingly Tropical” was chosen as the single best photograph taken by a British photographer entered into any of the ten Open categories of the awards. Dilkes has won a Sony RX100 III camera and his image will be shown as part of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards exhibition at Somerset House, London from 24 April – 10 May. Runner-up positions for the UK National Award were given to Simon Morris and Antony Crossfield.

The winners of the Syngenta Photography Award 2015 were announced this evening at an awards ceremony at Somerset House, London. German photographer Benedikt Partenheimer was announced as the winner of the Open Competition, and Berlin-based American photographer Mustafah Abdulaziz was selected as the winner of the Professional Commission category. Partenheimer received US$5,000 for his winning image in the Open Competition. Shijiazhuang, AQI 360 is a panoramic shot of the barely visible Shijiazhuang skyline disappearing in its own air pollution. Taken from the series ‘Particulate Matter’, the acronym AQI used in the title of the photographs stands for "Air Quality Index" and indicates the degree of air pollution – in this case 360, which is a ‘hazardous’ level. Mustafah Abdulaziz was selected by an international jury chaired by photography writer and curator, William A. Ewing for his ongoing Water series – a photographic exploration of a natural resource in crisis. Shot in India, Pakistan, Ethiopia and Sierra Leone, the project has received support from United Nations, WaterAid, and VSCO, amongst others. In addition to the US$15,000 cash prize, Abdulaziz will receive a grant worth US$25,000 to complete a new commission in which he will extend his study on the depletion and misuse of water in his home state of California.

The Royal Photographic Society’s International Print Exhibition is now open for entries. Now in its 158th year, the contest has a reputation for showcasing a wide range of genres and styles of photography. Entry is initially online as a submission of up to 4 digital images. The selectors will create a shortlist with the final selection of 100 images being made from prints. The selected images will be shown at the opening exhibition (19–25 October 2015) at London’s Old Truman Brewery as part of PHOTOBLOCK 2015 Festival. The Gold, Silver, Bronze and Under 30s Gold medal winners will receive cash prizes, and the Under-30 winner will also be offered a one-year mentorship courtesy of Metro Imaging. Up and coming photographers have until Wednesday 11 March to get their entries in and have a chance at winning the first-ever D&AD Next Photographer Award. Created in partnership with Getty Images to find the best new photographers and promote them back to the creative industry, the D&AD Next Photographer Award will provide shortlisted entrants with international exposure for their work through D&AD and Getty Images, the chance to win the grand prize of a D&AD Pencil, a place in the Annual and a $5,000 prize fund from Getty Images towards a dream photography project, plus mentorship from a wide portfolio of acclaimed photographers, agents and agencies. To enter, new photographers are asked to submit three pieces of photography (still or moving image), either from a series or produced individually. Entries cost £20, and the shortlisted works will be revealed in early April and put on display as part of a public exhibition set to take place during D&AD Judging Week. The overall winner will then be announced at the D&AD Professional Awards Ceremony on Thursday 21 May.

The shortlists for the Professional, Open and Youth competitions of the Sony World Photography Awards have been announced. Those in the awards’ 13 Professional categories will now compete for a $25,000 prize and the coveted L’Iris d’Or/ Photographer of the Year title. The recipient, along with the winners of the Professional categories, overall Youth and Student winners plus the Open Photographer of the Year, who receives a $5,000 prize, will all be announced at the Sony World Photography Awards Gala Ceremony on Thursday 23 April. The winning and shortlisted images will go on show at Somerset House, London from 24 April – 10 May and published in the 2015 edition of the Sony World Photography Awards book. The third FEP European Photo Book of the Year Award is now open for entry. Books can be entered in one of eight categories including Reportage, Portrait, Landscape, Nature photography, Nudes, Monographs, Commercial and self-published books. A single copy of each book must be sent by no later than 14 March 2015 to Adriano Scognamillo, via Bontempi,  2/a, 06122  Perugia-Italy. The entry fee for each book is 40,00 euros (60,00 € - for non-EU applicants). One winner will be chosen for each category and the winner will receive a diploma and a ceramic plate. One book from all the entries will be chosen as FEP Best Photographic Book 2015 and will receive the EUROPEAN BOOK PRIZE.

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is looking for your camera trap images for an assignment on its Wild View Photo Blog. The Wild View editorial team will review and select submissions based on appeal, composition, originality, and technical quality. A group of chosen shots for this assignment will be posted on Wild View. The Association of Photographers (AOP) has opened the doors on its 2015 Student Awards. This year the AOP has partnered with innovative London prolab and art printer theprintspace who will be hosting the Awards ceremony and exhibition this summer. Iconic London studio, Holborn Studios, will provide a day's free studio hire including a professional lighting set-up for the overall winner. Further prizes will be announced shortly. The Awards carry four briefs, each set by a leading professional photographer. THese include Social media: Animal conservation, Product shots: Sense, Brand Image: Charity and Sunday supplement cover. The Awards are open to all students who are studying a course that includes photography (this may not necessarily be a full-time photography course). The deadline for entries is 30th April.

Por el Planeta, the first international conservation photography competition, is now open for submissions. There are 10 categories divided into three themes: Biodiversity (Animal Portraits, Animal Behavior, Animals in Their Environment, Wild Habitat, Underwater and Micro Nature); Conservation (Our Changing Planet and Conservation Photographer of the Year); and Storytelling (Six Frames for Change and Short Video). A prize fund of USD $300,000 will be divided across 22 prizes, including $100,000 for the best picture in the entire contest; $15,000 for the best image captured in Mexico; and $10,000 for the People’s Choice Award. The winner of the Conservation Photographer of the Year category will receive $15,000; the winner of Six Frames for Change category will receive $12,500, plus an additional $50,000 to finance a photography project in a Mexican biome; and the winner of the Short Video category will receive $10,000. The first-place winner in each of the other categories will be awarded $10,000, and the second-place category winners will receive $2,500. The best photograph from each of the Under 18 age groups will win a trip with paid expenses to Mexico City. The competition is open for entries to 27 March 2015.

The Guild of Photographers, one of the UK's largest photographic associations, has announced its Photographer of the Year winners. Chris Chambers won the overall ‘Photographer of the Year’ title as well as being the Guild’s ‘Photographer of the Year’ in the ‘Wedding’ category. He was also the 'All-Round' Photographer of the Year.’ He received trophies to acknowledge these great achievements as well as £1000 of products from Johnson's Photopia. Other Guild ‘Photographers of the Year’ include Nina MAce, Gilian Lloyd, Rob Mank and Gavin Prest. An ‘Image of the Year’ was also selected separately by the members and the judges. The 'Member's Choice' was an image by Chris Chambers, and the Judges Choice was a photograph by Sam Hayward (above).

The Voies Off Festival of the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographies in Arles will celebrate its 20th anniversary from 6 - 11 July 2015. For the past two decades, the Voies Off Prize has been awarded by a jury of renowned professionals to an artist for the clarity of his vision and the high quality of his work. Voies Off night projections during the opening week of the Rencontres d’Arles festival (the first full week in July) have become an international reference for the discovery of emerging authors and the alternative venue that it creates for international photographic creation. The winning and shortlisted images of the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards will be on display at Somerset House, London this April and May. Taken from a record-breaking 173,444 entries from 171 countries, the extraordinary images showcase the world’s best and most original contemporary photography of the past year. An intimate display of both familiar and lesser known photographs, films and books by legendary Magnum photographer Elliott Erwitt will also be part of the exhibition. Erwitt, who will receive the Outstanding Contribution to Photography prize at the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards on 23 April, is a master of photography recognised worldwide for his candid and often ironic black and white images capturing everyday life.
