Leica Camera, in partnership with Miami Street Photography Festival, is launching a series of photographic events and partnerships at Art Basel Miami this December. During the six days of programming, in addition to a celebratory event and Leica Akademie, the final round of the multi-city Leica X Vario City Challenge will crown a Miami winner who will advance to the national and final round of the competition. Workshops, lectures, portfolio reviews, studio shoots and more will be offered, with world-renowned Magnum photographers Alex Webb, Bruce Gilden, and Constantine Manos, along with poet and photographer Rebecca Norris Webb, National Geographic’s Maggie Steber and celebrity portrait and sport photographer Mark Mann. Fujifilm has launched a free  digital magazine to help X-series users across  the world get more from their cameras, lenses and accessories. Ikelite has launched two distinct underwater housings for Canon's latest offering in the G series. The Ikelite TTL Housing for the Canon Powershot G16 (£549.99) features a large, simple dial directly above the camera's LCD monitor that acts as a remote control for Ikelite DS-series strobes. An aluminium tray with left-hand rubberised grip is included with the Ikelite TTL housing for the Canon G16, providing balance and comfortable hold. The TTL housing will be available in December. The Ikelite Fibre Optic Housing (£449.99) is a more compact offering geared toward owners of optical strobes. This housing is just as rugged as the TTL version, but shrunk way down with comfortable thumb grips replacing the tray and handle assembly. The Fibre Optic housing will be available later this month.

Thee Rogue Safari Flash Booster, an attachment for DSLR cameras that concentrates light from the pop-up flash for photographing subjects at a distance, will soon be available in the United Kingdom. Optimised for use with telephoto zoom lenses that are 100mm and longer, the Rogue Safari focuses up to 8x more light (an improvement of up to 3 f/stops) on a subject than a DSLR’s unassisted pop-up flash. The Rogue Safari Pop-Up Flash Booster will be in the shops for Christmas priced at £25.

Joby has revealed its latest product, the Pro Sling Strap. With its patent-pending SpeedCinch pulley system, the Pro Sling Strap length dynamically adjusts, letting photographers quickly secure their DSLR camera in one moment and shoot in the next. SpeedCinch has two modes: a fast-cinch mode for instant deployment and a locked mode where photographers can run, hike or bike without putting their DSLR in harm's way. For additional peace of mind, the Pro Sling Strap also comes with a camera tether. Retailing at $69.95, the Joby Pro Sling Strap is available in S-L and L-XXL sizes.

Sigma has issued a product advisory stating that the current firmware of its Nikon fitting interchangeable lenses may not work properly with the Nikon D5300 digital SLR camera. More precisely, the Optical Stabilisation (OS) and Live View Auto Focus functions do not work properly when it is used with the Nikon D5300. For those customers who own Sigma lenses in Nikon mount, Sigma is going to provide a free firmware update service.

ExpoImaging has introduced the ExpoDisc 2.0 Professional White Balance Filter for digital cameras. The original ExpoDisc Professional White Balance Filter was available in separate Neutral and Portrait (warming) versions. ExpoDisc 2.0 combines these versions into a single tool. ExpoDisc 2.0 includes two levels of custom warming gels which can be inserted into recesses on the face of the ExpoDisc, enabling photographers to add varying degrees of warmth for pleasing skin tones. The ExpoDisc 2.0 will initially be available in a 77mm filter size with more sizes to follow. As with the original ExpoDisc, a larger ExpoDisc 2.0 can be used with smaller filter size lenses by simply holding the ExpoDisc 2.0 over the lens during the white balance setting procedure. The ExpoDisc 2.0 77mm White Balance Filter retails for $49.95.

Plustek USA has announced end-of-year deals on a number of its scanners. Of photographic interest are the instant rebates on the Plustek OpticFilm 8100 (pictured), OpticFilm 8200i SE and OpticFilm 8200i Ai 35mm film scanners, which range from $60 to $90 depending on model. Expiring on 30th November, these deals are available online and from authorised Plustek value-added resellers across the United States.

A Day at Home is a new photographic series by Charlotte Colbert. With playful nods to Bourgeois’ “femme-maison”, the visuals of ruins and fairy tales, Colbert questions the daily insanity of being human, more specifically within the context of the home. Shot on location, in a derelict house in Bethnal Green, the ruins become a character in themselves, the murky mindscape from which one cannot escape. The series will be on display at Gazelli Art House, a commercial art organisation dedicated to providing a new setting for the creation of contemporary art, from 29th November – 12th December 2013. Gazelli Art House is located at 39 Dover St, London.

Registration is now open for this year's International Nature Photography Contest, organised by Oasis. There are ten categories for adults, including Landspaces, Mammals, Birds, Other Animals, Storyboard, Underwater, People, Plants, Pets, and Lights, shapes and techniques. The Boys category is divided into two sections; Baby (for children up to 14 years) and Junior (for kids aged 14 to 18 years). The deadline for submissions is 25 December 2013.
