The EOS Ra is Canon's first ever full-frame camera for astronomical photography.
Featuring a new infrared blocking filter (IR filter) allowing even higher hydrogen alpha (Hα) light to reach the imaging sensor, it enables four times as much of this hydrogen alpha light to be transmitted compared to the EOS R.
Unlike other full frame astro cameras, it is portable and has no need for external power and connection to a computer.
The new Canon EOS Ra will be on sale in early-mid December priced at £2599.99 / €3019.99 / $2,499.00.

A high-end Canon EOS R system camera that sits above the current EOS RP and EOS R cameras is under consideration, according to Canon representatives.
Speaking to Canon UK's David Parry, Photography Blog was told that the possible new full-frame mirrorless camera for professionals will have dual card slots and in-body image stabilisation, two features that the current range-topping EOS R model (pictured) does not offer, and which have been very much in-demand from would-be owners.
Canon apparently sold 44% mirrorless and 56% DSLR cameras between Jan-Aug 2019, so they're very much committed to both systems.
They also have a continued focus on fleshing out their RF lens range as quickly as possible, although they declined to provide an updated RF lens roadmap when we enquired about one.
Canon are also still focused on EF and EF-M mounts as well as their newest RF mount.

After an early peak at the recent Fuji X-summit event in Japan and the usual avalanche of rumors in the last few days before launch, the Fujifilm X-Pro3 APS-C sensor mirrorless camera has now been officially announced.
This is the new flagship model in the X Series range of mirrorless digital cameras, sitting above the popular X-T3 and the not so popular X-H1 models.
The X-Pro3 has the much-publicized tilting LCD screen which is actually closed against the body in normal use, in a concerted bid to promote greater employment of the electronic viewfinder, a feature that is already dividing online opinion.
Other key features include titanium top and bottom plates, 26.1 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, the X-Processor 4 image processing engine, an Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder, and a new Classic Neg film simulation.
The X-Pro3 will be available from December body only in three colours - Black, Dura Black and Dura Silver - priced at £1699 for Black and £1879 for the two Dura colours.
