The NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 is the new kit lens for the Z5 entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera. This portable lens features a retractable design that is extended by rotating the zoom ring.

It doesn suffer somewhat from having a rather modest 24-50mm focal range, wide but pretty short for an all-in-one lens, and very slow f/4-6.3 maximum apertures, but there is a customisable control ring and Nikon claims that the focusing is quiet enough for video use.

The Nikon Z5 looks like such a capable camera that we'd probably skip this lens entirely and invest in some decent glass, like the Z 24-70mm f/4 S, unless the price for the Z5 kit is simply too tempting.

Nikon has just announced new firmware updates for the Z50, Z6 and Z7 full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Version 2.00 for the APS-C (Nikon DX format) Nikon Z50 mirrorless camera adds Animal-Detection AF, improves subject-tracking AF and adds support for the new 1.4x and 2x teleconverters.

Canon have just announced REIMAGINE, a live-streaming event revealing and discussing its biggest product launch yet.

On Thursday July 9th at 13:00 BST, Canon will unveil an innovative product launch which will probably include the new flagship model in their mirrorless range, the EOS R5 (pictured), which we first saw a few months ago before Covid-19 had spread across the world.

Olympus has just unveiled the latest M.Zuiko Digital Lens Roadmap which now includes new 8-25mm F4.0 PRO and telephoto macro lenses, an update for the development of M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO, Bird Detection AF for the E-M1X and an OM-D webcam beta version.

Fujifilm is releasing a major new firmware update for all three GFX medium-format mirrorless cameras - the GFX 50S, 50R and 100 models. Major improvements include enhanced image reproduction, better autofocus performance, expanded functionality and gimbal and drone support.

The Panasonic Lumix G100 is a new mirrorless inter-changeable lens camera designed speciifcally for vlogging.

Smaller than an iPhone XR, the tiny G100 offers 4K 30p video recording, the Worlds first OZO Audio by Nokia for premium sound quality with three internal microphones, a dedicated video selfie mode for simple vlogging setup, 2x/4x slow motion and 2x/4x/8x FHD quick motion options, V-Log L recording for more advanced users, and social media frame markers and record frame indicators.

The compact and lightweight Panasonic G100 weighs just 412g with its 12-32mm kit lens and has a 20.3 megapixel MOS sensor for stills. It also features five-axis hybrid image stabilisation, a 1840K dot free angle touch LCD, 3,680K dot viewfinder, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and a dedicated button for easy image transfer to smartphone.

Compared to the recently announced Sony ZV-1 compact camera, probably its most obvious rival, the Lumix G100 is bigger and slightly heavier, but has a built-in viewfinder, higher resolution LCD screen, and you can change the lens.

Other similar competitors include the Canon EOS M50 and the Fujifilm X-T200 mirrorless models, but they're more all-round cameras with good video functionality, rather than being especially dedicated to vlogging.

Available at the end of July, the Panasonic Lumix G100 is priced from £589.99 in the UK for body only, £679.99 for 12-32mm lens kit, or £719.99 for 12-32mm lens and tripod grip kit.

The new DMW-SHGR1 Tripod Grip will also be available at launch priced at £89.99.

Hasselblad have released a major update for the X1D II 50C and 907X Special Edition medium format mirrorless cameras. Firmware Update 1.2.0 adds 2.7K (2720 x 1530) and HD (1920 x 1080) video capture, Focus Bracketing, Image Rating and more.

The Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 RF is a brand new autofocus, fast-aperture, short telephoto prime lens for Canon RF mount full-frame mirrorless cameras.

The Samyang AF 85mm f1.4 RF will be available in the UK and Ireland in late June priced at £599 (including VAT).

Tamron have just released a teaser image and video for their next Sony Alpha full-frame lens. Claimed by Tamron to be "a revolutionary new mirrorless lens offering performance plus versatility", it sounds as though Tamron are about to add a travel-zoom lens to the six lenses that they have already released so far for Sony E-mount.

Panasonic has just introduced a new interchangeable standard zoom lens, the Lumix S 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 (S-R2060), based on the L-Mount system for its Lumix S Series full-frame mirrorless cameras.

The new Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm lens will be available to purchase from July 2020 priced at £619 (€669 Ireland).

Panasonic and Atomos have just announced that the Atomos Ninja V and Panasonic LUMIX S1H 5.9K RAW over HDMI combination has now been delayed due to an "unforeseen technical issue (that) has come to light in the final rounds of beta testing that needs rectification prior to shipping."

Panasonic are still releasing Version 2.0 Firmware for the Lumix S1H camera today, but it will no longer include the RAW video data output function.

Olympus have announced two new kits for the E-M5 Mark III camera - the OM-D 12‑45mm F4 PRO Kit and OM-D Movie Kit.

The new OM-D 12‑45mm F4 PRO kit will be available from mid-May priced at £1,499. The OM-D movie kit is available now priced at £1,799.
