Sony A7S III Mirrorless Camera Offers "Best Ever 4K Recording"

The cinema industry is changing as it moves from Super35mm to full-frame.

Sony's one-mount strategy is focusd on E-mount, with 57 lenses in total, 37 of which are full-frame.

It's been 5 years since the launch of the A7S II, with lots of requests during the last 2 years for its successor.

Now Sony have launched the A7S III mirrorless camera, which they claim delivers “The best 4K Sony ever made”.

The whole concept of the product has changed to achieve this. With freelancers now working on their own more, the Sony A7S III is aimed at this new workflow for hybrid shooters.

Canon EOS R5 First Impressions

“Re-imagine mirrorless” is the official strapline for one of Canon's biggest ever product launches, as they introduce 11 new products in total today, including the hotly anticipated Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera with its 45 megapixel full-frame sensor and ability to record 8K video.

Canon are still keen to point out that they are not stepping away from their other DSLR and APS-C mirrorless systems, just focusing on full-frame mirrorless for the next 6 months at least.

Tamron Issues Advisory Notices for 70-180mm F/2.8 and 17-28mm F/2.8 Lenses

Tamron has issued advisory notices for the 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD and 17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD lenses. They warn of a timing issue when using a flashgun with both lenses on most Sony cameras, and additionally a serious stabilizer malfunction when using the 70-180mm lens and the Alpha A7 II camera.

Sony Livestream for NAB Show on April 30th

Sony have announced that they will be holding their NAB 2020 press conference digitally in an online livestream, after the Las Vegas show was cancelled due to the spread of coronavirus.

Given the nature of the show, expect to see an obvious focus on the cine side of Sony's product range. This could possibly include the launch of the now near-mythical Alpha A7S Mark III, but we wouldn't hold even our virtual breath for too long.

Sony's NAB online press conference time will start at 9:00am PST on Thursday April 30, 2020.

Sony A7 III 35mm Full-frame Mirrorless Camera - "Perfection For All, Everything You Need”

The Sony A7 III is the new entry-level camera in Sony's 35mm full-frame mirrorless range. Sitting below the A9, A7R III and A7S II, the A7 II offers a lot of Sony's latest imaging technologies, including a new 24.2 megapixel Back-Illuminated Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor, ISO range of 50-204800, 15 stops of dynamic range, 4K video recording with full pixel readout, 10fps burst shooting, 5-axis 5-stop image stabilisation, 693 point auto-focus system covering 93% of the image area, Eye auto-focusing mode, a joystick for adjusting the focus point, and class-leading 710 shot battery life.

The Sony A7 III will ship in Europe in March 2018 priced at approximately £2000 / €2300 (body only) or £2200/ €2500 in a kit with the FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS lens. In the US, it will be available slightly later from April 10th priced at about $2000 US for the body and $2200 in a kit with the FE 28‑70 mm F3.5‑5.6 kit lens.

Adobe has released ACR 8.6 and Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 as "release candidates." Sony Announces UK Pricing for Alpha 7S

Sony today announced availability and pricing details for its Alpha A7S full-frame compact system camera. The Sony A7S will go on general sale in Europe from the end of July 2014 priced at approximately £2,100 and is available to pre-order now on country-specific Sony websites. Additionally, the company announced that the A7S will offer the user the ability to activate a ‘Silent Shooting’ mode, thus making the photographer as unobtrusive as possible. In addition, the recently announced RX100 III will start shipping in Europe at the beginning of July 2014 and will be priced at approximately £700.
