The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX800 is the world's smallest camera with a 30x, 24-720mm zoom lens. The WX800 also has Fast Intelligent AF and responsive Eye AF to help capture even distant subjects beautifully, while built-in Wi-Fi/NFC makes sharing easy. The Apple iPhone 5S boasts an 8-megapixel "iSight" camera module with larger sensor photosites, faster auto focus and a brighter lens than its predecessor. Other highlights include a double "True Tone" LED flash, 10fps continuous shooting and 720p HD video recording at 120fps for slow-motion playback. The new True Tone flash, which uses an amber and a white LED, variably adjusts colour and intensity for over 1,000 combinations so photos taken with a flash appear more natural, the company says. The new camera app in iOS 7 offers real-time photo filters courtesy of a new, 64-bit A7 processor that also promises faster overall operation. The Apple iPhone 5S comes in gold, silver or grey, and will be available for a suggested retail price of $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB variant and $399 for the 64GB version, fpr "qualified customers." In the UK, the iPhone 5S sells for £549 (16GB), £629 (32GB) and £709 (64GB). The product will hit the shelves on 20 September 2013.
Digital Negative, an iOS app which captures uncompressed images that retain all of the information recorded by the camera sensor and saves them in DNG format, is now available in a dedicated iPad version. In addition to DNG, the Digital Negative HD app can also record high-quality JPG images or uncompressed TIFF files. Other interesting features include a real-time histogram, exposure compensation and shutter speed adjustments as well as flash, focus, and zoom controls. Digital Negative HD is available on iTunes for $2.99.
Tiffen today gave a sneak peek at its new product lineup for the upcoming 2013 International CES exhibition. JVC today announced the launch of its first pocket flash memory camera, the new PICSIO GC-FM1. PICSIO shoots true eight-megapixel stills and 1080p Full HD video with image stabilisation. Videos are recorded in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format and stored as .MOV files. There is no optical zoom though. The PICSIO camera is about the size of a small cell phone, and is available in three colours - Black Ice, Blue Steel and Purple Passion.
