Polaroid has launched a new, fully automatic TTL flash unit for Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax and Sony cameras. The Studio Series Digital PL-108AF flash has a guide number of 18 (in metres at ISO100/21°) and comes with a tilting flash head with precise light control, red-eye reduction capabilities and an AF assist light. It also includes quick settings such as Auto Focus, TTL metering and automatic shutter speed for simple shooting. Iridient Digital has released Iridient Developer 3.0.1. This version adds support for the Canon 5DS and 5DS R, the Nikon D7200, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 II and SH-2, the Panasonic TZ71 and Samsung NX500. Additionally, it includes improvements to the new v3 noise reduction methods for Luminance and Luminance Grain Smoothness, particularly for images with high levels of speckle type noise in the deep shadows. The v3 Colour noise reduction methods are now both applicable to monochrome conversions and are now applied prior to monochrome conversion. Corel has updated its AfterShot Pro software to Version 2.1. Available free to registered users, the 2.1 update introduces a number of new features and enhancements including new HDR tools for Mac and Linux, support for more than 17 new raw camera profiles, an improved Highlight Recovery Tool, as well as various performance and stability enhancements. Brian Griffith has released Version 2.1.1 of Iridient Developer, his critically acclaimed image processing software for Mac OS X. This release features all-new, native demosaic processing for the Fuji X-Trans (X-Pro1, X-E1, X100S and X20) cameras, in addition to the existing support for these cameras using either Apple's RAW libraries or Adobe DNG (linear) format conversion. The new demosaic method provides improved fine detail rendering, even better sharpness and other advantages over Apple's conversion. Version 2.1.1 also includes a number of improvements to preview drawing for Retina displays, better handling of touch gestures for preview scrolling on older laptops and other bug fixes, adds support for 14 new cameras, and greatly reduces the memory usage of the new noise reduction methods introduced in Version 2.1.

Iridient Digital has released Iridient Developer 2.1 a major update to its critically acclaimed image processing software for Mac OS X. "This update features a total overhaul of the noise reduction functionality including three all new, state of the art, noise reduction methods along with optional auto noise adjustment levels based on ISO and other image parameters," says programmer Brian Griffith. The application now provides support for use of Apple's raw conversion libraries as an alternate raw conversion method and as a way to provide support for some unique camera models (such as Fuji's X-trans cameras) that Brian has not yet found the time to support with his own custom demosaic routines. A new monochrome conversion option, "Raw Colour Channel Mixer" has also been introduced, which provides direct colour mixing of the sensor colour planes direct from the demosaic process without any prior color conversion. Finally, the update adds support for 22 new camera models from a variety of manufacturers.
The new Fujifilm X100S promises to be a faster version of 2011's hit camera, the X100, with the S clearly standing for Speed. Casio Exilim EX-ZR700, Fujifilm X100s, Fujifilm X20 (pictured), Hasselblad Lunar, Leica M, Nikon 1 V3, Nikon 1 S1 and Pentax MX-1 cameras; and includes a correction to the demosaic algorithms for Fujifilm cameras with the X-Trans sensor. This specifically impacts the Fujifilm X-Pro1, Fujifilm X-E1, Fujifilm X100S and Fujifilm X20 models.

Phase One has released Capture One 6.2, which adds camera support for a range of Samsung, Fuji, Ricoh, Panasonic, Canon, Sony and Nikon cameras, as well as the Phase One IQ180, IQ160 and IQ140. Further additions and improvements include local adjustment of saturation and clarity and the ability to copy a local adjustments mask from other layer, auto sync of XMP metadata, additional camera controls for Canon and Nikon, and improved OpenCL and 64 bit performance. Capture One version 6.2 is a free upgrade to current owners of Capture One Express 6 and Capture one Pro 6.
Adobe has posted the final versions of Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 6.4 and Photoshop Lightroom 3.4. Originally published as Release Candidates, these updates fix a few bugs and add raw file support for a number of new cameras, including the Canon EOS 600D (pictured), Nikon D5100 and Fuji FinePix X100 and others.
